Bretagne is composed of 80% of the old duchy of Brittany, with the other 20% consisting in the department of Loire-Atlantique, which is now part of the Pays-de-la-Loire region. The remainder of the old duchy is subdivided into four administrative departments:
Attractions
Bretagne offers many attractions, many which are related to the old duchy of Brittany. Also the region is very picturesque itself and there are a lot a open spaces in every city, town or village.
Transportation
Getting to the region of Bretagne shouldn’t be much of a hassle. If you live in Europe, then coming by car would be very recommended, but if you don’t then getting in by plane and then getting around by train or rental car is also fine.
Events
The people of Bretagne have a strong bond with their Breton heritage. This is shown not only in their determination of keeping the Breton language in schools, but also in the annual festivities, which bare a Breton trademark..

Mostly comprise of seafood specialties, Breton cuisine is one of the best in France. As such dining out will surely be and unforgettable experience, as well as a tasty one.
History & Civilisation
Today’s region of Bretagne comprises 80% of the old duchy of Brittany, which has long been disputed between the French and the English. Although England has had possession of the duchy at one time, in the end Brittany became part of the French crown.
Ushant Island
Ushant is an island in the English Channel which marks the north-westernmost point of France. It belongs to Brittany and is in the traditional region of Bro-Leon. Administratively, Ushant is a commune of the Finistere department. It is the only place in Brittany with a separate name in English.
